Shaft
Founded 1964 in Montpellier, France – Shaft Jeans came to Italy in 1968 at a time of great social and cultural change and became a symbol for rebellion and nonconformity.
The current owner, Francesca Bacci took over the brand in 2004 and re-launched Shaft Jeans in all the important markets thanks to her thirty years of experience in the trade.
Here, Shaft uses both the great American jeans tradition – authenticity and vintage washes – as well as innovation and technology. Happy Birthday – Sportalm’s Jubilee Anniversary
60 years ago precisely, in 1953, the story of textile manufacturer Sportalm began. What started off as a small, fine embroiderers’, then a tailor’s for dirndl dresses and then a ski fashion maker evolved into one of Austria’s most successful companies following the purchase by Wilhelm Ehrlich in 1980. Today, the company is looking forward to honouring its 60th anniversary.
For the company, this jubilee also marks a celebration of continued growth and global success. Despite its multinational appeal, Sportalm’s priority is the preservation of its roots as a family business. The daughters of the owner Ehrlich, for example, are equally appointed in the company as chief designer and controlling manager, and are also part of the management at their father’s side. Besides the company jubilee, the family also has another reason to be getting in a festive spirit. Owner Wilhelm Ehrlich, the heart and soul of Sportalm, is also celebrating his 70th birthday this year.
Ladies love Sportalm for its originality and innovation that together define the brand’s very specific style. Novel functional materials are processed using handcraft techniques that the company has been using since its beginnings. Couture paired with a passion for Heimat: the secret behind the brand’s success.
Sportalm creates luxurious women’s collections for an international clientele that places great value on quality and perfection. It makes sense that Sportalm was voted company of the year in 2010. “For us ‘Made in Austria’ is a commitment!”, says Ulli Ehrlich. Today, more than 680 people work for the brand that sells fashion from Kitzbühel in more than 1,400 stores in 22 countries.

SHOP opening: la fée maraboutée IN BERLIN
This summer Berlin’s Ku-Damm will be one store wealthier. On the 25th of July 2013, French fashion label la fée maraboutée is opening its first store in Germany on the famous shopping boulevard. The location in the reborn west of Berlin is the perfect address for the premier label from Paris.
la fée maraboutee first came to fame for its highly feminine knitwear with special little features, like hosiery and lace. In 2003, the brand started its own prêt-à-porter range designed to suit any occasion. Since then, the label has been busy conquering Europe, Russia and Asia bit by bit.
The plan now is for la fée maraboutée to win over the German market. The brand has the support of French architect Thierry Michault, whose purpose is to create an essential feel-good atmosphere with his exceptional store concept. When shopping for women’s tops, bags, shoes and accessories, punters are supposed to feel like they would in their own four walls.
And, for those people whose own four walls don’t happen to be in Berlin, help is also underway. Starting in July, the brand is also launching its own online shop at HYPERLINK “http://www.lafeemaraboutee-berlin.de/“www.lafeemaraboutee-berlin.de, with an exclusive range for German consumers. Shoppers in other regions can still buy la fée maraboutée goods in more than 94 of the brand’s boutiques around the world.

Laurèl Undercover
In the past year, fashion label Laurèl was out and about at the world’s Fashion Weeks in all of the key fashion hubs, equipped with no more than a small suitcase full of collection highlights and key pieces. With orders to go “Laurèl Undercover”, they started a brand-based project culminating in a book entitled “Laurèl Lovers”. The idea is to let exciting women infiltrate Fashion Week audiences, styled with a matching key piece from the Laurèl collection. The street style images shot at the events are both spontaneous and natural and illustrate first encounters between the target group and product. With their spur-of-the-moment look and feel, these shootings aim to impress women unfamiliar with the brand and beautifully capture the idea behind the Laurèl claim “See • Feel • Love • Laurèl”.

LAURÈL Presents Art-to-Wear Edition No. 1
Jo Netzko for Laurèl – (limited first Edition)
Fashion loves art and art loves fashion – this relationship is part of everyday life for Laurèl Head Designer Elisabeth Schwaiger and her husband, Munich artist and painter Jo Netzko. Their longstanding creative dialogue has now led to a joint project for the first time, entitled “Art-to- Wear”.
Netzko’s diversely coloured abstract pictures are printed on high-quality Laurèl silk foulards, available for purchase as unique individual specimens in a few select shops from November 2012.
In collaboration with Laurèl, Jo Netzko deliberately crosses the boundaries between wearable design and art for art’s sake. In doing so a fertile fusion of two worlds is created, both of which strive for a common goal: to produce something new which moulds contemporary spirit into a concrete form.
The outcome of this collaboration is an art piece that can be worn as a garment, expressing not just material but also emotional luxury. “Art-to-Wear Edition No.1” is intended as a special favourite and collector’s item for the Laurèl customer, independent of the collection cycle.
Jo Netzko has lived and worked as a freelance artist in Munich since 1981. In his work, he has dedicated himself to laying bear abstract traces and elements of both evolution and regression.
In conducting this search, Jo Netzko takes his own perception as his starting point.
This takes him on repeated study trips to Africa, Asia, Indonesia and Central America, which he undertakes with his wife, the designer Elisabeth Schwaiger. Their joint inspiration now finds its way into the first limited edition “Art-to-Wear”, to be presented in November 2012.
The principle of sensory perception as the starting point for artistic creation perfectly matches the slogan of the Laurèl brand “See · Feel · Love”. Laurèl is passion – a love of fashion. Women are to “see” the creations, “feel” them on their body and “fall in love” with Laurèl. This will certainly not be difficult with these silk foulards which are unique collector’s pieces.
